    Hiking Trails on Mt. Halla-san



    Halla mountain changes its appearance according to the seasons, royal azalea and azalea make a spectacle in Spring and climbing the Halla mountain covered with snow in Winter is very impressive. You must prepare for the sudden changes of high mountain of 1950m height before climbing and be accompanied by veterans against the danger of being lost especially in Winter. Now it's prohibited entering Bakrokdam and several climbing courses for the protection of nature.



    Songp'anak Trail

    Located 20 km from Cheju City and takes 30 minutes by inter-city bus. Songp'anak Trail is at 750 km above the sea level and resting facilities are well provided. The course is famous for sea of pink azaleas attracting many tourists, mountain climbers and photographers. Distance : 9.6 kms (6 miles), Time required : Ascending (4hrs. 30mins.) Descending(4hrs.)



    Kwanumsa Trail

    Kwanumsa Trail has a lot of stairs. The scenery toward the north is known to be beautiful and steep that climbers take the course for descending. It is located 11 km from Cheju City, 20 minutes by inter-city bus. Taking off at the entrance of Tamna Education Institute and walking about an hour reaches the Kwanumsa Temple. Another 10 minutes walk is the management office. Drinking water is available at Yungjinkak for water is scarce in the valleys. Distance : 8.3 kms (5.2 miles), Time required : Acending(3hrs.) Descending(2hrs. 30mins.)



    Orimok Trail

    Orimok Trail is best couse in Mt. Halla providing breathtaking landscape which is especially brilliant when azaleas are in full bloom in May in Manse Park. Osungsaeng reservior provides as a sole drinking water source for Cheju people. Located 15 km south of Cheju City and takes about 40 minutes by enter-city bus. Distance : 7.8 kms (4.9 miles), Time required : Ascending(4hrs.) Descending(3hrs.)



    Yongshil Trail

    Yongshil Trail is the shortest one in Mt. Halla but known for its best pictureque scenery. The rosds are well paved from the 1100 road to Yungshil. Located 25 km southwest of Cheju City and takes 50 minutes by inter-city bus. From the bus station 6 km walk to the management office of National Park where this course starts. Distance : 6.5 kms (4.1 miles), Time required : Ascending(3hrs. 50mins.) Descending(3hrs.)
